Company History

WellNet was founded in 1994 to address companies' needs to better manage the cost of their medical benefits. Since its inception, WellNet’s approach to addressing ever increasing healthcare costs has been to develop tools and services that educate and inform both the employer and the employees to make healthier, more cost effective decisions. Through the years, WellNet’s products and services have evolved to address the changing market landscape and regulatory environment in the healthcare industry. The WellNet Healthcare Group refers to the following WellNet branded companies operating under the leadership and guidance of a single executive leadership team:

1994

WellNet Rx formed

Originally established to supply fully-insured pharmacy plans for small and mid-sized businesses.

2001

WellNet Rx expansion

Expanded service offering to meet increasing demand for detailed analysis, assessment, and consultative support for plan sponsors by administering self-funded pharmacy plans for mid- and large-sized businesses.

2005

WellNet Interactive formed

Recognizing the predictive power of Rx claims data, WellNet established WellNet Interactive to utilize predictive modeling technologies to identify at risk members and perform outreach wellness, care management and medical management programs. 

2006

WellNet Healthcare Administrators formed

WellNet established WellNet Administrators to provide third party administration services to plan sponsors in the management of their entire self funded medical benefit plan.

2009

WellNet Advisory formed

Recognizing an ineffectiveness in the traditional consultant model for healthcare, WellNet established its WellNet Advisory business to assist companies in all aspects of proactively managing their health plans.  Specifically providing plan design services, plan optimization reviews, expense reduction campaign management, regulatory consultation, technology implementations and market analysis.

2010

WellNet Health Plans

Using the experience gained in the mid-size and large group self insured market, WellNet Health Plans was formed to offer the self funded model to small to medium-sized businesses (10-500 employees).  WellNet Health Plans combines the money saving opportunities and flexibility of self-funded health insurance, previously only reserved for the largest employers, with the minimal risk and predictability of fully insured health insurance.
